Mmmm...Jello!

If you read my last post you can see we have strep going around our house again. This morning Walker woke up not feeling well also so I took him to the doctor this morning. I love that our pediatrician is open on Saturday and they are really good about getting us right in. Walker obviously has strep, plus a right ear infection, plus a little bit of coup and a little bit of an upper respiratory infection. So to say the least he is really not feeling well. We are on more antibiotics (stronger than what Ellie is on) and we have some drops for his ear. My poor kids. I feel so sorry for them. They both slept most of the day and haven't really eaten at all. This is not really unusual for Ellie but Walker, from day one, has always been a good eater. We made them some jello tonight, thinking it would feel good on their throats. They LOVED it. Ellie is such a girl. Eating her jello really nicely with her spoon and not really making a mess at all. As you can tell from the pictures below, Walker is all boy. Even thought he hasn't mastered the spoon, he will usually eat from one at dinner time and isn't that messy when he eats. Jello is a different story. It was all over the place. As we found out it will also stain your hand and face for quite some time. Everyone got a bath after jello time and then it was off to bed. Hopefully we will have a quiet night and then a better day tomorrow.

Since everyone was pretty lazy today I had time to make my famous homemade cinnamon rolls. I will cook them tonight and then ice them in the morning. Oh, I just can't wait to eat them. They are soooo good.

I also havn't figured out how to rearrange the pictures so they are a little out of order.

Walker getting his first round jello
He LOVES it!!
Ellie did really well eating her jello with her spoon.
This was raspberry jello and as you can see it will turn your hands read for a while.
My homemade cinnamon rolls. These are for breakfast in the morning.
This is where you have to sit to give Ellie her medicine. She will tell you "right here, right here" and pat the tile when it is medicine time.
I thought it was supposed to be nice this weekend but the wind blew like crazy and as you can see it is freezing outside
This is where Ellie spent most of the weekend.
Walker always wants to roll on his belly now when trying to drink his milk. He usually gets really frustrated because the milk does not come out when he rolls.

It's Baaaaack....

Yep, Strep is back!  I didn't think Ellie was feeling to well this morning but I had meetings all day long at work, so I loaded her up with Motrin and I knew she would be fine since she would be at the house all day with Shannon. I got a text about 3:45 from Shannon telling me Ellie threw up in her bed during her nap time. So when I got home she had already had a bath and Shannon was getting Walker out of his bed from his nap.  She also had a pretty bad rash on her chest. I immediately called the doctor and we got in at 4:30.  They swabbed her for the flu and strep and the test came back positive for strep.  Now we are once again on Amoxicilin for 10 days and we are contagious for the next 24 hours.  It was really really nice here today and I wanted to get some good pictures of the kids at the park but Ellie was lethargic all day and just wanted to see her Bubba and watch Elmo when we got home. It was very cute but sad. I can't really let them get to close right now because I don't want Walker to get this.  It is supposed to be pretty nice here tomorrow so hopefully we can get out to the park with the kids.  My next post will have pictures, I promise.

Just some fun cute photos

Ellie likes to push her slide from the dining room to the living room.  It is really frustrating for Walker when she does this when Elmo comes on.

Crazy hair day! This is actually something we have every day!!!
Concentrating on his toy!
Actually sitting together nicely. Walker usually has a handful of Ellie's hair!
Everyone has to have something in their hand to keep them occupied.
I am not sure what Ellie was doing when I took this picture but this face is great!
And now we are laughing!
He looks like such a little boy instead of a 9 month old.

A New Ride and Our New Favorite Place....

Finally everyone is over the sickness!! I honestly thought it was going to last forever.  Now that we are all feeling well we have been able to get outside, when there is nice weather, and enjoy not being in the house all the time.  My boss, Nevin, gave Ellie this awesome battery operated car. His daughter out grew it and he thought Ellie might like it. She does love it!!  She is a little to small for it but when we out the pillow behind her she can actually reach the pedal.  She really hasn't gotten the whole pushing the pedal down makes the car go but it does have a radio and of course she already knows how to turn it on and off and make it louder and louder.  It really is awesome! She wants to get in it every time we go out to the garage. I can't wait until the weather stays nice and we can be outside all the time.

Walker has a few new things... First... Two new teeth.  He finally got his top two teeth in. They have not completely dropped but you can definitely see them, so I think that counts.  He has a new favorite place in the kitchen, besides his high chair... It's the cabinet with all the plastic bowls and lids. I can put him down there and get a complete meal cooked. He just loves it and so do I.  He has also decided he loves to scream.  I don't mean just a quiet little scream, I mean a scream that could break glass. We thought Ellie had a loud scream when he was her age but boy were we wrong. He beats her by a mile.  Oh and then there is Elmo. How we love Elmo!  The other morning we were all sitting on the bed and I had Sesame Street on.  Elmo's World came on and Walker started clapping and laughing and he did not speak (scream) until the show was over. It was amazing. We have discovered Elmo in Numberland on VOD and it is my second saving grace next to the plastic cabinet.

Walker in his new favorite place.
We love plastic bowls!!!!
Eyeing the box of lids!!!!
Dad.. I can do it!  Turn the radio back on!!!
Vroom...Vroom...

A Rough Weekend...But Everyone is Getting Better

We have had a rough week/weekend but this week seems to be going pretty good. Just to recap how the rough week started. We noticed Walker getting sick on Thursday evening. He did not want to go to sleep unless he was laying on me. So after about an hour I decided to just get ready for bed and sleep with him upstairs in the spare bedroom. He finally went to sleep around 10:30. I never really slept that night because most of his issues seemed like they were respiratory. So I pretty much stayed up all night listening to him breathe. At around 2:00 AM he woke up and was pretty much using every muscle in his body to breathe. I ran down stairs with him, handed him to Jason and told him I was taking him to the ER. He got him dressed, I got dressed and we were off. Jason obviously had to stay home because Ellie was still asleep and we couldn't just leave her. We got to the Medical City ER and they were great! We got right in and they assessed Walker. He had a 102.7 degree fever and was diagnosed with Croup and a right ear infection. Of course when we got there he was in a great mood, smiling, clapping and just making everyone think he was not sick. He is such a charmer. After a green Popsicle, a round of steroids and a prescription for antibiotics we released and on our way home. We got home about 5:30 AM. My alarm went off at 7:00 AM so I could take Jason to the dentist. I dropped him off at 8:00 AM, ran to the pharmacy to get Walker's meds, then home to get in the shower. Right after I got out of the shower the dentist called and said Jason was ready to get picked up. I had an 11:00 meeting at Parkland so I didn't have time to get Jason and take him home so needless to say he came to the hospital with me and sat in the Tahoe while I had my meeting. I had to give him specific instructions to not leave the truck. I didn't want to have to find him mixed in with all the other riff raff at Parkland. After my meeting we were headed back home so Jason could sleep and I could check in with my little guy. Everyone was doing pretty well so then I was back off to Parkland for a 3:00PM meeting. I got home about 5:30 PM that day, EXHAUSTED!! So that was all early Friday morning and all day Friday.

So on Saturday we notice Ellie is starting to get the crud. She starts coughing, getting the runny nose and a fever. So we load her up with medicine and monitor throughout the night. Sunday rolls around and everyone is still not feeling well, and now I am starting to get the crud again. We stay home all day Sunday, except for the mandatory trip to the grocery store. We get everyone to bed at their normal bed time and then Jason and I watch the Super Bowl.

Monday rolls around and we are all off to work. Everyone seemed to be feeling better. When I get home Shannon, our Nanny, tells me Walker and Ellie are still not doing well and neither took a very good nap. I call the doctor to see if we can get in late that afternoon and they can't get us in until Tuesday morning. Tuesday comes around and Shannon and I take all the kids to the doctor. Ellie now has the croup and an ear infection but Walker is looking much better. His ear infection is almost gone and he is sounding much better when breathing. Now both kids are on antibiotics. Hopefully we will get rid of all the sickness this week because we have a busy weekend with baby showers and birthday parties.

I would just like to say thank god for Shannon. We were so lucky to find her and she has been a huge help when everyone is sick.

I obviously don't have any pictures to post right now. I will hopefully get some up next time I post. Ellie did get a great new battery operated car this weekend but hasn't really been able to play with it since she is sick. It is supposed to be nice this weekend so hopefully we will find time to get her in the car.
